It’s a tough world out there, by getting good at karate you will be more confident and more able to stick up for yourself. What ever sport or physical activity you get involved with later in life, having a foundation in karate will help you with it.
By working with other people to learn moves you will break down barriers and become more confident with dealing with others. Sometimes you will be asked to demonstrate a move or tell others what to do, this will develop your leadership skills.
We are all capable of being aggressive, any animal that couldn’t be aggressive would have died out long ago, karate is an outlet for this aggression instead of having it bottled up inside you and coming out at the wrong time.
The more capable that you are of defending yourself the more mellow you can be as over aggression often comes from fear, you will be less fearful the better you are at protecting and asserting yourself if you need to.
Kid’s karate is based on traditional karate but with a heavy emphasis on practical easy to use techniques from many traditions. The classes are based around real life situations and how to deal with them. The level of concentration that the breathing techniques and balance exercises take is high as is also the discipline required to practice them at home.
Children are encouraged to grade and gradually rise through the belts as this encourages concentration and a sense of achievement when they are successful .The art of Karate promotes a high level of self control and a greater degree of determination while giving children a higher level of fitness.
